SJJAF African Jiu-Jitsu Championship General Information

The SJJAF is proud to announce the 2023 SJJAF African Jiu-Jitsu Championship held at the Côte d'Or National Sports Complex, Mauritius Multisports Infrastructure Ltd, 1st Floor, Multipurpose Building, Motorway M3, Côte D'Or, St Pierre, 97410, Republic of Mauritius on Saturday 18 November 2023.

The SJJAF has strict Uniform policies which will be enforced at the SJJAF African Jiu-Jitsu Championship, make sure to review the policy.

Important Information for Coaches

Free spectator admission will be awarded to all active SJJAF Members including coaches.

The SJJAF reserves the right to close registration when full capacity is reached or on Sunday 22 October 2023, whichever comes first. Make sure to register early and secure your spot.

Tournament T-shirt

All competitors registered by the Sunday 22 October 2023 deadline will receive a tournament shirt at the cost of 1 USD (MUR 1.00).

Shirts are to be picked up the day of the event at the SJJAF booth inside the venue, which will be located near the entrance by the SJJAF membership booth.

Fees

Non-competitor spectators ages are eligible to free spectator tickets.

The venue has a spectators clear bag policy. This policy will only apply to spectators not competitors or coaches.

Important Notes

No Pets allowed in the venue

Outside food and drinks are not allowed in the Côte d'Or National Sports Complex

Changes to Registration

To make any changes to your registration you will need to login to your SJJIF account. Go to the “Competition History” tab and click on the “Change Division” button next to the tournament you’d like to update. All registration changes must be completed by the division change deadline. We will not accommodate any change after the deadline. If you run into any issues or have questions about changes email Administration@MBJJF.org. Be sure to include the tournament name, your name, and the changes to be made in the email. The deadline for all changes is Monday 30 October 2023. No changes will be made after the deadline or the day of the tournament.

Weigh-Ins

Weigh-ins are assigned up to 30 minutes before your division is scheduled to begin. Be sure to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled division time. Schedule with time will be posted no later than xx. Athlete's are to weigh-in with the uniform they will be wearing to compete.

Open Weight Division

Open Weight divisions are only for juvenile competitors and above. Athletes that do not have a fight in their respective division can sign up for the Open Weight division at no added cost immediately after they receive their medal at the podium.

Divisions for Open Weight are as follows:

Male: Juvenile, Adult, Masters 30, Master 36, Master 41, Master 46, Master 51, Master 56, Master 61

Female: Juvenile, Adult, Masters 30, Master 36, Master 41, Master 46

All Black Belts must be an active SJJIF member to compete.

Only the top three Black Belt athletes in a division qualify to compete in the Open Weight division.

SJJIF/ SJJAF black belts can only register for the Open Weight division at the event.

Black Belts can only compete in the respective Open Weight of the Age Division they registered for.

Registered Black Belts that do not attend the event will automatically lose the SJJIF free registration privilege.

Athletes who register for Open Weight divisions and do not compete will also have their will lose team points earned in their respective bracket and ranking.

Black Belt Open Weight brackets will be done by random assignment at the event with all registered black belts present.

No Gentlemen’s agreement, competitors must fight.

If a black belt registers for the Open Weighty division then does not participate in the open weight competition he or she will be banned for 1 year from ALL SJJIF/ SJJAF/ MBJJF sanctioned events.

After registration, an athelete will have 3 business/ working days to make necessary payment to the Federation either by Bank Transfer, Cash or PayPal. If relevant payment is not effected during allocated time, the next payment amount will be enforced. 

For example:

If an athlete makes his registration on Friday 30 June 2023, he will have until Wednesday 05 July 2023 to make relvant payment of USD 45 / 45 / 80. If he still hasn't paid by Wednesday 05 July 2023, the next payment amount will be enforced, i.e., he will need to pay USD 50 / 50 / 90 or above if he crosses the next deadline. So please take care for your payment, the Federation is not liable for any mis-registration or payment issue.

For athlete registering on the 20th October 2023, payment must reach the Federation by Wednesday 25 October 2023.

NO REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE 20TH OCTOBER 2023.

ALL MAURITIAN ATHLETES/ CITIZENS MUST HAVE A VALID MEMBERSHIP (LICENSE) ID TO PARTICIPATE.
